First of all, I would like to call out to this wonderful yoga community of beautiful people to send love and light to one of our students, Connie Mathews. Connie Mathews helps us keeps the mirrors free of all the evidence of our hard work and effort. She was in a car accident a few weeks ago, which as left her severely injured and in a coma. I believe as a community we have the ability, with our thoughts of love, to support her and her family and friends at this time. Thank You.

POSTURE OF THE MONTH: Tuladandasana-Balancing Stick Pose
Tuladandasana is the 3rd and last posture of the standing cardiovascular series. It is designed and placed at this point to bring the heart rate up to about 110 beats/minute (average). Because of the form of the posture it strengthens the lower chambers of the heart, which is typically neglected, scouring out the veins and arteries. Simultaneously, it sends fresh blood to the brain and is one of the best poses for bad posture. Mentally it builds the powers of concentration, improving body control and balance!

Tips for Tuladandasana
1.  The main ingredient is the set-up. (You have heard this before!) Start with the body in one line, elbows and knees locked solid, arms with the ears and CHIN UP. It is much easier to create before you bring gravity into the picture. The form will be much easier to maintain too.
2.  During the pose, look forward on the floor 4' in front of you; the farther the better! Arms stay with the ears. This will lift the chin and pull the chest forward, which helps with balance. Not to mention the other therapeutic benefits!
3.  Image you are being pulled apart like a human tug o' war. This truly helps you stretch more through your finger tips and toes, lengthening your whole body, which ultimately is what creates the balance.

The seminar will include:
9:00-10:00 am: Lecture
10:00-11:30 am: Bikram Yoga Class
11:30-1:00 pm: Lunch Break (Not provided)
1:00-4:00 pm: Posture Clinic
4:00-5:00 pm: Meditation and Group Talk

For all of you planning on coming please come prepared to take class, with a change of yoga clothes for the posture clinic. FYI-the only portion that will be in the heat is the yoga class from 10-11:30.

CHANGES WITH THE IOU'S
As many of you know the IOU situation needs an overhaul! Starting April 1st we will eliminate the infamous IOU sheet! From now on, when you come in without a mat, towel or water AND money to pay for them it will go onto your account in the computer.  If you have money to pay, continue to put it in the infamous fish bowl as usual! Also, you will be able to put money on an account for future mats, towels, and water...as well as juice, etc. You may only go into the red with water, mats and towels.

-2 Free classes for every 1 new student.

-1 Free week unlimited yoga for 3 or more new students.
